Practically
speaking, your Web Address is your Internet identity and your online brand.
Your customers will remember this name and use it to find your Website,
your products or your services. Since no two parties can ever hold the
exact Web Address simultaneously, your Internet identity is totally unique.
Technically, a Web Address is an addressing construct used for identifying
and locating computers on the Internet. While computers use Internet Protocol
(IP) numbers to locate each other on the Internet, people find them hard
to remember. Therefore, Web Addresses were developed to permit the use
of easily remembered words and phrases to identify Internet addresses.
I
can't find a Web Address that works for my Website; lots of the names
I've tried are taken. I don't have a Web Address to transfer either. What
should I do?
Your
Website must have a Web Address in order to be found on the Internet.
You must also have a Web Address to subscribe to our monthly hosting plans.
If you want to have your Website created now (and register your Web Address
later) you can have MAD Flashworks build your site, then download the
site to your computer. Just remember that your Website won't be on the
Internet until you have registered your Web Address. Your next step will
be to arrange for your Website to be hosted by the provider of your choice.
Many hosting providers offer "third level domain names" (e.g. www.yourcompany.abccompany.com).
If you have dial up access to the Internet through an Internet Service
Provider (ISP) you may already have space for a Website with a third level
domain name. Check with your existing provider for details.
In order
to establish your online identity with a Website, you'll need the name
and number of at least two computers (known as host or name servers),
so your customers can find you on the Internet. You may have these special
computers in your organization, or you may need to arrange for name service
with an ISP or Web Hosting company. MAD Flashworks provides hosting plans
starting at $8.00 per month.
How
much will my hosting provider charge me to transfer my Web Address (Domain
Name) to use with my new Website?
Most
hosting providers do not charge to transfer a Web Address. Please note
that MAD Flashworks does not charge for this at all; any transfer charges
that you may incur would come directly from your current hosting provider.
How
do I know that I'll have a reliable hosting provider for my Website?
To simplify
the process of getting your Website up and running, we automatically arrange
your Website hosting for you. We partner with leading, reliable hosting
providers as well.
Web site
designs are professional-quality templates that include complex features
such as intricut page layouts (versus basic headers and wallpapers), custom
interactive buttons (versus hyperlink navigation), unique font and color
schemes (versus basic HTML text styles), and the use of Flash when appropriate.
Will
I be able to see my site before it gets published to the Internet?
Yes,
MAD Flashworks lets you preview your customized Website before its finally
published. Each time we change your content you can preview your site
to make sure you like what you see. You can also change your content after
we've published it.
Depending
on the size and complexity of the project the estimated time to build
a Website totally varies. Discuss your project with a MAD Flashworks representative
to get an estimated time to completion.
What
if I want to change my Website content after it's been published to the
Internet?
MAD Flashworks'
Websites are designed to be flexible and to grow with your business. We
can always update your text and graphics as your company grows and changes.
What
if I want to change my Website Design after it's been published to the
Internet?
If you
decide that you want a new design, color, or graphics, you can simply
inform your consultant and he will make these changes within the 60 day
warranty period.
How
much will it cost to make changes to my website once the warranty period
expires?
Quite
often if a client simply needs a quick change such as editing text which
will only take a few minutes we simply do it for free. If the changes
or additions appear to be significant then we either produce another contract
for the development at a fixed cost, or simply bill you at our current
hourly rate which starts at $25.00 per hour for design and $50.00 per
hour for programming.
