Sid Tarpinian earned a MBA from the New York University Graduate School of Business and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from National University. He is a California licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with private practices in Long Beach and in Torrance. Sid’s areas of preference include couple therapy, grief and loss, mood disorders, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). He also teaches stress management. He received special training to serve as a Collaborative Divorce Coach and to mediate parenting plans for divorcing couples with minor children.
As counseling is a third career for Sid, he brings a wealth of life-experience to the table. In addition, his lengthy MFT internship iucluded positions at UCI Medical Center, Pacific Hospital of Long Beach, Family Service of Long Beach, and in private practice.
Adverse to conflict himself, the Collaborative Divorce process immediately appealed to Sid. Divorce ranks high as one of the most stressful situations an individual or couple can experience. Sid’s stress management skills, his knowledge of the grieving process, mediation, and couples’ work can help clients who have chosen Collaborative Divorce to stay focused on their goals rather than on their positions. The goal of the process is to help clients make decisions that are in their best interest of the entire family and save them the time and additional expense of an argumentative litigation process.
Sid is pleased and proud to be one of the founding members of Alternatives: A Collaborative Divorce Team, practicing in the South Bay and Long Beach and is looking forward to working with you.
